Guthrie Theater Minneapolis July 9, 2012

The Guthrie Theater ranks right up there with the best of them all – beautifully designed, intimate yet expansive, high ceilings, great lighting, and great crew…..and it’s red all over inside….and it sits on the banks of The Mississippi among the old mills and factories…. and it’s got an amazing candeleavered ramp which runs out over the river where you can sit and watch it flow. The theater is just part of the incredible innovative urban revitalization taking place downtown.

We played a 90 minute set  ending with an encore of “Angels” and “Superman 14”.

In the middle of our set we are now playing a “mini-set” of Hatfield and McCoy songs – featuring some of the material we wrote for the series documentary…..and a special guest, Lillie Costner, who joins us for the first half of our tour. Lillie is a great singer/songwriter with a unique blend of the old and the new, the sweet and the sad, all with a voice that can transport you to another place and time. Lillie will be with us when we play the Opry in Nashville and Sara Beck will join us there and finish off the tour.  We’re lucky to have such talented and beautiful women to brighten up the stage.

Thank you everyone who came to the beautiful Guthrie Theater in Downtown Minneapolis (Teddy’s hometown) to see us on a Monday Night.  You really made us feel welcome.

Right now we’re on the road to Lansing Michigan to play The Common Ground Music Festival on the 12th…….come see us there.

See You Around …..Sometime

Had a great time at the Guthrie last night and my mother really enjoyed seeing her favorite movie star. Lillie was fantastic.

My mom and I are both history nuts and listening to Kevin talk last night, it seemed he might have a certain amount of interest in the Civil War.

Kevin, apparently nobody has ventured to make “The Last Full Measure” into a movie to cap off “Gettysburg” and “Gods & Generals” yet. Duvall is still out there to take up his Robert E. Lee role again. Just a hopeful dreamer offering up a suggestion. 😉

Hi Kevin and Modern West! Yes my daughter and I were there at the Guthrie Monday evening and it was a wonderful show! I was the one in the wheelchair off to the side of the stage/front row due to an ankle mishap while camping over the weekend. BUT, we came anyway and the Guthrie was so helpful in switching our seats (plus we were really close to the stage)! We loved when Lilly came out and sang with you and when you did the songs from Hatfields & McCoys – Kevin you are an awesome storyteller and performer. I have seen you 3 times now (Cabooze, MN Zoo, Guthrie) and each show has been fantastic! Can’t wait till you return to Mpls again! Safe travels….

I wanted to thank Modern West for a fantastic show!! But most of all, I wanted to thank Kevin for being the same hero on stage as he is in his movies. It’s obvious that he has his priorities in the right places with his “role” as Dad being at the top!! The warmth and sincerity that eminate from the stage through his stories about the music, the band, and his family make it obvious that he was giving something during that show that couldn’t be purchased through ticket sales!! Thank you so much–I hope to see you around some time…soon!

Unfortunately couldn’t be there. Was told I had tickets with back stage pass to the show in Ft Wayne, IN on Sun 7/15/12, however that fell through. Hope the tour goes well. I know there are a lot of people in this area anxious to see the band perform. You will be a hit:).
