Sun Peaks B.C. July 7, 2012

Sun Peaks  B.C. is a long way from Minneapolis. We left Saturday night after the show and we’re still driving – just crossed the border in North Dakota at 7AM Monday.  We’ll get into Minneapolis for our show there tonight at the Guthrie Theater just about load-in time – 1 or 2 PM.  There are 9 of us on the bus plus 2 drivers.  It ‘s a long drive and  a long story.  You might ask, “Why are these guys starting their US tour in Canada and why are they driving their bus all the way across the Canadian Rockies and  the Great Plains. Are they crazy?”  The answer is yes – but a complicated yes – not as crazy as it seems……and we do like the bus better than the airports.

Our USA tour through the midwest begins today July 9.

Sun Peaks has a summer music festival which we headlined this year.  We played a 90 minute set against a beautiful backdrop of green mountains as the sun went down. The audience was wonderful and Kevin as usual made everyone feel like “part of the family”. A Brown bear sat on the edge of the forest listening to the music.

See You Around……Sometime

I have tickets to the July 21 show in Durant, OK. I have been trying to see about getting meet and greet passes. I gave tickets to my daughter for her 21st birthday in June and we are going together. She has mentioned several times about how she wished she could meet you guys. Would really appreciate it if you have any information on this, letting me know what I need to do. Thanks so much. Looking forward to the show.

Great concert Saturday night! Babe Ruth once said, “Never let the fear of striking out get in your way”. Thanks Kevin for following your instincts and beginning your music career with your band. Our instincts more often than not lead us to great decisions. You hit a home run with this one!

The scenery from the long haul on the bus must have been beautiful. The bear… he must have needed some much needed soothing – or maybe he was full on berries and just chilling out. Just got done canning the first crop of pickles and jelly – thanks MW for keeping me company in the kitchen while I chilled out to Famous for Killing Each Other. Cheers…

I still recall youyr performance few years ago in Atlantic City. My wife and I attended. So much changed since, my heart is still sensitive to the same beautiful people, beautiful music that i come to grow up with, discover more as if some gods on earh and angels took our hands to help us understand appreciate life to its full extent and further discover the deep sense of world community, public service, love and most of all the true meaning of being American. Once in a while our American dream gets shathered as unwanted events and people interfere or we just sin, make wrong decisions or have negative thoughts created by a wandering mind. My spirits have been elevated so high up that the current suffering i am undergoing feeling most of the time butchered will not diminish my resolve to move forward. Kevin and People like kevin through their amazing movies and beautiful music are one of those examples and benchmarks we cling to in the face of challenging times, sickness, adversity and confusion or when we just need to be reminded of the true meaning of being American in these troublesome politically charged times. Thanks for all you do and hope to see you soon. i just attended a concert for an Algerian singer at Prospect PArk in Brooklyn and I am attending another concert for the Philharmonic community in Central Park. These could be great venues for you to perform.

And thanks a lot for giving us the “The Angels came done” – bonus track. it reminds me of war-expierences my dad and grandpa told me and in another way here is a feeling that comes to me remembering simple – but even deep feelings of lost and grief -so your song will support us all. Thanks and Enjoy your playing ! Astrid

Hi Kevin, John and all the band,
I’ve been on Vancouver Is. at my niece’s wedding at a venue in the beautiful BC forests this weekend… so “close” to Kamloops and yet so far!!! You had a bear and we had 8 deer grazing nearby. Don’t you just love nature!? So happy to hear that the concert was a big hit for all the KCMW newbies!!!! I’ve seen you play 4 times in Niagara Falls and will follow the tour as you put smiles on lots of faces at each show!!!! Can you post The Kevin Costner Rap lyrics???

Here’s the rap if you are interested 🙂

      “The Kevin Costner Rap”

From the KEV, to the IN, to the COST, to the NER,
I’m here to tell you about a win that occurred,
Country 103 gave a great gift to me,
A free night in Delta with my friend Amy,
They also said “Hey, we know a pretty cool guy”
He sings country music and can act on the fly,
“If you build it, he will come” is a well known quote,
And Message in a Bottle with a big ole sailboat,
Now how about Tin Cup where a round of golf is played,
Or Play it to the Bone was the answer of the decade,
Let’s not forget The Guardian it’s my favorite dang movie,
And the western waddle swag in Silverado’s pretty groovy,
Kev I know we seem quirky and you haven’t met us yet,
However, once you’ve heard this rap hopefully you won’t forget,
That in order for us to win we had to be on call waiting,
Time went by so slow it felt like we were carbon dating,
And now we’d like to say thanks so much to 103,
We’ll have a great time Kev that we guarantee!
