Park Chisolm

Park Chisolm grew up in Newnan, Georgia. As a young boy, Park always loved music, and he lists Neil Young, Elvis Costello, Peter Gabriel, and Tom Waits among his favorite artists. He started playing guitar at age 11 because the Newnan Pawn Shop had better guitars than keyboards, and he played in bands all through high school and college and never stopped.

After graduating with an English degree from Vanderbilt University, Park toured with David Gates of Bread, Emerson Hart of Tonic, Troy Olson, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Cowboy Troy, Scott Miller, American Idol’s Bo Bice, and Jo Dee Messina. As a member of Scott Miller’s band the Commonwealth, Park performed in the house band of Jeff Foxworthy’s Blue Collar TV for three seasons.

Park had known and worked with Teddy Morgan for several years when he was introduced to John Coinman, whose album Teddy was producing. Park sang harmony on John’s album, and later, in February ’06, Teddy asked him to join Modern West for a show — and things just went from there. Park has been a full member of Modern West and an active songwriter in the band since 2008.

In between tours, Park returns home to Nashville where he writes, records, and produces music. He recently co-produced an album of original music with his wife, independent singer-songwriter Sara Beck, called Music For Lovers & Fighters.
