On To Gothenburg

On To Gothenburg

Another 16 hour bus ride – this time up through Germany - across the Baltic sea by ferry - then over one of the longest bridges in the world – a 10 mile bridge into Sweden. Bobby, John, Blair and Devin were up early as usual watching more of the “Sons”. Snow was everywhere. Crows were lining the roadside and in the white fields. When we drove across Canada in the middle of the winter last year the only animal we saw in the early dawn was a single crow on the wire glistening in the frozen sun.  I guess crows are the universal bird.  We have them in Tucson and we’ve seen them in Equador and Romania and Greece. They are tough and smart too.

It was dark when we arrived in Gothenburg so we all straggled into the hotel set up our overnight homes and found something to eat. Some of us went out for a walk into this beautoiful city. We listened to some chamber music in an old church and dodged the buses and the trams on the snowy streets.

The Lisebergshallen, where we played in Gothenburg, is in one of the best amusement parks in Europe.  Unfortunately it was shut down so we provided the amusement and the music. We had a great time there – some great food – met some wonderful people and flew out to Helsinki early the next day after about 5 hours sleep.  The bus dove on to Denmark where we will meet up again after our brief trip to Germany.

Thank you so much for coming to Gothenburg ! It was wonderful to see you guys performing live! I had listened to your cd before but so much better to experience the warm & fun atmosphere you all bring on stage !!! actually it was the first time I was “a little warm” since last summer! It’s been a terrible winter here…as you could see..I really hope you are coming back soon again and I’ll make my best to have the same goods sits as this time (first raw..). Best of luck on the rest of your tour and a safe return home :)) Pat.

Thanks for a truly great night when you guys were here in Gothenburg. All my friends got jealous as hell when I told them I got to shake Kevin Costner’s hand!

Felt kind of awkward at times though, there must have been an 8-1 female ratio and Kevin of course joked about that. I know Kevin is huge among the ladies, but I hope he is aware that he has a lot of male fans as well, who appreciate him for his great acting, producing and directing skills.

If you ever come back to Sweden, me and my girlfriend will be the first to book tickets! Have a great time on the rest of your tour and good luck.

Sncerely/ Anders
