Twenty five years to the day the iconic film, Field of Dreams, was released it is announced that the cast will reunite at the site in Dyersville, Iowa where the historic movie was shot, magical moments are made and dreams come true.
“I am looking forward to returning to Dyersville to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Field of Dreams. I’ve come to know how much this film means to people from all over America and particularly know how important it has become to Iowans. Field of Dreams is special to all of us that were lucky enough to be in it, too. It transcends more than just baseball. It is about believing in the unbelievable. It’s about relationships. It’s about fathers and sons and the things that go unsaid for too long,” said Kevin Costner, who starred as Ray Kinsella in the movie.
Taking place on Father’s Day weekend, the cast will reunite on Friday, June 13th to show the film on a large screen on the field. Families are invited to attend bringing along their lawn chairs and blankets. Matt Lauer will conduct a Q & A with the cast. Throughout the weekend sportscaster, Bob Costas, will be the Master of Ceremonies.
On Saturday, June 14th the morning will kick off with fathers and sons invited to ‘Have a Catch’ on the legendary field. Sponsors will play in a daylong baseball tournament with celebrities and cast members acting as team managers. The fun-filled day at the Field of Dreams site will culminate with a celebrity baseball game.
On Saturday evening, Kevin Costner & Modern West will perform at America’s River Festival in Dubuque, Iowa. Tickets are sold separately for the concert.
“I am looking forward to seeing the cast of the movie. Field of Dreams has always been one of my favorite movies and I can’t wait to be on the field it was filmed,” said Bret Saberhagen, two-time Cy Young award winner and 1985 World Series MVP.
Joining Saberhagen will be former MLB pitcher and 2013 World Series champion, Ryan Dempster, former MLB pitcher, Glendon Rusch, cast members Timothy Busfield and Dwier Brown , actor Joel Murray and comedian and actor Jeff Dye. More cast members and celebrities will be announced soon.
Denise Stillman, president of Go the Distance Baseball, the parent company of All-Star Ballpark Heaven which owns the Field of Dreams site, is excited about celebrating the 25th anniversary in June and developing the area into a bigger venue where kids of all ages can experience the magic of the Field of Dreams.
